Mapping is the oldest visualization tool ever developed to display data. It is therefore not surprising that it was one of the earliest field affected by the data revolution.

Because maps are intuitive, they are also the easiest way to understand what Big Data really is. In this presentation, Philippe will guide you through the progress from maps to GIS and into Big Data, explaining complex concepts with simple examples, providing an accessible introduction to innovative ideas and their application in the advertising field which will completely transform the world as we understand it over the coming years.

After 10 years in the financial sector in Tokyo, Paris and London focused on new products and derivatives, Philippe came back to Japan 20 years ago as managing director of a Dutch marketing company. He has since moved from data (segmentation with Claritas and GIS) to big data with Zenrin. He is now bridging the on-line off-line data gap by developing partner categories with Acxiom for advertising on Facebook and other Internet companies. Philippe has been coaching graduate students in several Japanese and foreign universities and is currently moving towards the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) for complex data systems.
